The forum this happened had a couple of FOSS nutjobs who to be honest made FOSS look as if it was some anti-MS movement something that I've in the past said to be a rather extremist view. This generated a lot of hatred against FOSS itself on the forum, some other posts on my blog reflect that.

Over the years, I've made good friends in the FOSS community but every so often you come across a total douche who thinks that the world revolves around him and for whatever reason this idiot thought that if he banned my account I'll beg for mercy or something...

Anyway, the point being, I've got some excellent relationships with FOSS supporters and I have no issues with them until they start acting like religious whackos and always replace the s in Microsoft with a $ etc. that's just immature high school behaviour.

While you are right that your situation was handled wrongly, I don't think it is fair to use the overarching statement that FOSS supporters are hypocrites. There are many FOSS supporters and each one embraces the philosophy on a different level. Some of us (like myself) would like to see the free/open culture expand to whole new levels--and perhaps even this situation could have been handled differently even without such philosophy. Regardless, there are those of us out there who, though not perfect, still strive to develop ways where such things do not happen. If we work together we can get there, but back-and-forth slander does not help. I think too often both sides rail accusations without considering the other's view, which seems childish and grossly inconsiderate. I hope you have much better interaction with the FOSS community in the future. :) People aren't always easy to deal with, but if you deal with them with time and patience things can usually be worked out.
