I smoke when I need to – not because some idiot on screen smokes. For that matter I don’t watch too many movies so I really don’t know who smokes on screen and who doesn’t. Though Its true that people are influenced by on-screen antics, It’s a very minor portion of people.

Again, it’s funny that The Clown tries his best to have a BAN on on-screen smoking, but makes no attempt to shut it down at the root – the manufacturing. The reason? because the Tobacco lobby pays huge amounts to the ministry!

A piece of true story – Mangalore, is major manufacturer of Beedis – have a thriving industry. When The Clown told that Beedi packs will have to have huge graphics regard, Skull and all, the Tobacco association of Mangalore had gone to Meet the Clown. his reply – give me Rs 500 Crore(yes that’s right, RS 500 CRORE) and I’ll drop the initiative.

So now you know why there isn’t a push for the Skull and crossbbones logo, do you?

Yeah, the thing sounds very strange I mean how will not having a hero smoke in movie stop people smoking.

on a funnier note, there was this cartoon which has one character(yound but not minor) who smokes all the time but in CN they showed him sucking on lollipops all the time that was really funny

half of the character’s… character was lost just right there.
