I love the Site Map thingy. After giga told me about that I have put a index.php file in the plugins folder.

Awstats shows Robots & Spiders dated today, so I am sure those are not being blocked.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Being able to find plugins used is a security vulnerability (hackers could exploit problems in your plugins), so blocking that is recommened.

Place a blank .htm or .html or .php file in /wp-content and it should be all right.

@gigacore: Using WP cache does not save you bandwidth, because you have to turn off gzip compression to use the plugin (gzip saves some bandwidth too).
It does save you processing power and database load, so the site will be faster.

The sitemap fad is going too far - you do not need a sitemap if you do not block search engines from category and archive pages. This is because bots will follow links in those pages and index all your posts.

Note: Check if bots are blocked in header.php (with php tags), robots.txt (with a rule) or by All in One SEO plugin (an option to check/uncheck).
